My Life Story
I'm a St. Louis-area native and lived in the same house in unincorporated Florissant from birth through high school.
I attended Hazelwood schools: Brown, Hazelwood Junior High, and Hazelwood Central.
I completed classes for my undergraduate business administration-management degree at
Truman State University in December 2000 but
didn't graduate until December 2001 (it's a long story but basically I needed to take one more class and timing issues pushed graduation back a year).
While at Truman I was photo editor of the Index
during the 1999-2000 academic year and business manager from August 2000 —
December 2000. I played in the saxophone quartet from August 1996 — May 2000
and Wind Symphony
for most of that time.
I left Truman in December 2000 to start a new job at
Tyco Healthcare / Mallinckrodt in Chesterfield, Missouri. I had been working at
Mallinckrodt during the summers and on a limited basis from school as a
consultant. In the three years
since leaving Truman I moved into an apartment, bought a new car and two houses
got married and adopted two cats.

This site
I spend my free time developing and maintaining this site for a few reasons.
It's a creative technology project (unlike the boring business applications I write for a living).
Instead of calling or emailing friends and family to tell them what I'm up to, I can post it on this site (see the blog).
I also publish my photographs for personal reference and use by the internet community.
Lately it has also been a sandbox for development efforts. I learned how to
write strict XHTML 1.0 by hand, converted most of it to ASP.Net (C#), which broke the XHTML adherence,
subclassed the System.Web.UI.Page class for
ease and consistency of page design (see any page of the site),
weblog software design, amazon.com web services (see
Wish List).
All content on the site is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommerical-ShareAlike unless otherwise stated.
That means you can use my photographs, writing, stylesheets and markup as long as you adhere to the terms of the by-nc-sa Creative Commons Deed.

Work
I work for Mallinckrodt, a division of Tyco Healthcare, a division of Tyco International (the beleaguered conglomerate).
We recently rolled out a new Nellcor site, here is my analysis
of its performance on various Mac OS X browsers.
Play
Apple's iMovie is an excellent way to burn a weekend. I'm trying to make the transition to Final Cut Express but I still like iMovie.
Maybe I'll stop liking iMove when I become proficient in FCE. A couple of short movies are available here in QuickTime format.
I'm playing piano after a long hiatus and learning classical guitar.
I'm taking flying lessons from my brother and am nearing my first solo. We rent a Cessna 172N (or P) from
St. Charles Flying Service at St. Charles airport (3SQ, not to be confused with St. Charles County airport, KSET).
I enjoy watching TV because we have TiVo. Without it TV is painfully bad.
We've tried Geocaching a few times but haven't found more than a handful of caches.
You might be interested my opinions on beer.
